System requirements

Tip: To edit Mastering items using an editor with more flexible system requirements (including Mac OS and Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers), see About the Simple Editor.

To work with the Advanced Editor, your system should meet the requirements below.

Windows users: Windows 7

Mac OS users: Windows emulator compatible with Altova® software. More info and link to Parallels emulator for Mac OS

Browser: Regardless of your operating system, you should use Internet Explorer Version 9.x. (Internet Explorer 10 Desktop is not yet supported for authoring.) For important browser settings, see also Setting up your system.

Important about Internet Explorer 9.x: When downloading Internet Explorer 9.x, be sure to choose the 32-bit version (not the one labeled 64-bit). After you have opened the Advanced Editor in 32-bit mode, it will automatically open in this mode every time after that.

Have a newer Internet Explorer browser? Depending how often you use the Advanced Editor, you may want to consider downgrading the version of your Internet Explorer browser. Info from Microsoft community about downgrading from Internet Explorer 10 to Internet Explorer 9
